Alien
Release Date: 1979
Director: Ridley Scott
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, John Hurt
Plot: An alien makes its way onto a spaceship and causes shenanigans.
Why it’s recommended: An interesting and very effective take on claustrophobic horror. The movie that continues to inspire, also continues to age very well.
Interesting Fact: The sets of the Nostromo’s three decks were each created almost entirely in one piece, with each deck occupying a separate stage and the various rooms connected via corridors. To move around the sets, the actors and actresses had to navigate through the hallways of the ship, adding to the film’s sense of claustrophobia and realism.
Best Line: “You bitch!”
Best Moment: (Immediately after the Best Line) Sigourney Weaver receives the biggest bitch slap in history.
